A self-paced online course designed to support teaching and learning at National University.

Duration: 4-day of Facilitated Training (total of 8 hours) 

About NU Faculty Foundations

NU Faculty Foundations is a self-paced online course offered twice a month through the Center for Innovation in Learning (CIL). Faculty members complete the course at their own pace within a four-day time frame and feedback is provided by CIL facilitators. There are no required meetings or any other synchronous component for this course.

How long does it take?

Average completion time is eight hours.

What does it provide?

The course provides a thorough overview of the tools and skills you will use as you teach your courses here at National University.

Topics Covered

Participants will explore topics such as:

  • Digital readiness and technology support

  • Updating your course syllabus

  • Effective teaching presence (discussion boards, announcements, etc.)

  • Setting up the grade center, retention center, and online office hours

  • Grading student work

  • Managing special circumstances
